We’re very pleased to announce that Lauren Rich Fine has joined our company’s executive team as our Research Director, a new position for ContentNext. Building upon our existing report business, Lauren will author a series of research reports and briefing notes on the digital media industry as it continues to change and evolve. As regular readers know, Lauren has been contributing her think pieces to us for the past year. Her latest is up now. She also provided in-depth analysis for our most recent report, 2008 online Advertising Deals.

She will continue to serve as a practitioner in residence at Kent State University’s College of Communication and Information. Until last year she was a managing director at Merrill Lynch in Equity Research, where she covered the publishing, information, advertising and online industries. ContentNext Hires Lauren Rich Fine, CFA, to Strengthen Management Team and Enhance Research Capabilities

—New research director will author industry reports and briefing notes on the ever-changing digital media landscape –

New York - October 14, 2008 - ContentNext Media, the media and information company covering the business of digital media and parent of paidContent.org, announced today the addition of Lauren Rich Fine, CFA, to the company’s growing executive team. Lauren will join ContentNext as Research Director to author insightful research reports and briefing notes on the digital media industry as it continues to change and evolve.

“We are excited and also very fortunate to bring on an individual who has such extensive knowledge of the publishing, information, advertising and online industries,” said Nathan Richardson, CEO, ContentNext Media, Inc. “Having been steeped in this industry for 20 years, Lauren has experienced the changing digital media landscape from its inception and has an amazing ability to translate raw information and data into keen insights.”

In addition to Lauren Rich Fine’s new role as research director at ContentNext, she will continue to serve as a practitioner in residence at Kent State University’s College of Communication and Information. Until recently she was a managing director at Merrill Lynch in Equity Research. She joined the department in 1988 where she covered the publishing, information, advertising and online industries. Since 1994, Lauren has been a ranked member of the Institutional Investor All-American Research Team. Lauren has an MBA from the Stern School of Management (NYU) and a BA in Psychology/Economics from Tufts University.

“ContentNext is the perfect place for me to continue researching the publishing, media and advertising industries and provide thought-provoking, strategic insight for companies in this space,” said Ms. Fine. “In addition to writing reports and briefing notes on digital media, I will also be working closely with the executive and editorial teams as well as advising executives, speaking about the industry and evangelizing the digital media space.” 

Lauren is on the Boards of the Brand Muscle, Cleveland Film Society, the Cleveland Jewish News, the Chautauqua Foundation, In Counsel with Women, Laurel School and Urban Community School, a not-for-profit school for
low-income families in Cleveland. She is also on the Board of Dolan Media and the Advisory Board of Dix & Eaton, a public relations firm in Cleveland. 

This October 15, Lauren is serving as a panelist at the Dow Jones (NYSE: NWS) Media and Money conference where she and her peers will address the changing nature of the print and radio industries and discuss the necessary steps to ensure the future success of these mediums. Lauren will also serve as a moderator at ContentNext Media’s second-annual Future of Business Media conference taking place from 8:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. ET at the Edison Ballroom in New York City.
